Happy weekend!

Beer Inspiration

It is Friday and I am looking forward to relaxing later…which may or may not include a beer or two!

Charlottesville is certainly known for it’s fabulous local vineyards but there are also some great hops options, too!  I am a huge fan of both Blue Mountain Brewery and Starr Hill – whether you serve this at your wedding or visit for your bachelorette or bachelor weekend, both breweries offer an awesome local element.  Cheers!

Wahoo Wedding Inspiration!

With so many UVa grads returning to Cville for their nuptials, how could we not consider orange and blue as inspiration?

2011 UVa Football Schedule

Earlier this week, the much awaited 2011 UVa football schedule was published.  In Charlottesville, football weekends affect everyone but they especially impact wedding weekends. From hotel blocks to traffic to vendor pricing, all of these are influenced by what is going on in Scott Stadium.

This board that we made reminds me of football season…so close yet so far….Go Hoos!

Honeysuckle Pink!

Last week I mentioned that the big color for 2011 is honeysuckle…Each year, Pantone determines what the “color of the year” will be…and then, you should expect to see it everywhere – from the designer runways to big stores like Target.

Here is a board with this year’s color – how happy, happy!

Smokey Hues

So, I know the big color for 2011 is honeysuckle (more on this later!) but I seriously can’t resist my love of neutrals…this smoky grey palette gives a contemporary twist to traditional wedding board… any takers?

How to Create an Inspiration Board

When I am working with a bride on her wedding, one of the first questions that I like to ask is “what is your personal style?”.  I try to find out where she likes to shop for clothes, for her home, where she find gifts – really anything.  Immediately, I can zoom in on her taste.

I always say that you want your wedding to feel like “you”!  So, it is super important that everyone involved in the planning – from your florist to caterer to your stationery designer  – to have a common visual reference…I call this an “inspiration board.”

To start your inspiration board, begin to pull pictures – you can look at Style Me Pretty, Martha Stewart Weddings, The Knot.  Of course, the pictures do not have to be wedding related – I love to check out Pottery Barn, Anthropologie, House Beautiful – there are so many options!

Try to find a bouquet, an invitation, a wedding favor, a groom’s tie or bow tie – the list goes on and on –  but the point is to find a variety of pictures that combine to create inspiration, not something that you will copy exactly.

Ask yourself, what themes you are seeing…Perhaps it is long tables, high centerpieces, modern lines…

This is the board that I created for Charlottesville Weddings…Can you see it?

Winter White Inspiration

The past few days I have woken up delighted to see a bit of snow on the ground…As I always say, the inspiration is everywhere…so, today, I have created a winter, snowy white inspiration board…
